Keep On (Foam) Rolling...
We've had a busy couple of weeks, so we wanted to give a brief update.
- We are thrilled to share that you'll be able to track us along the run! LiveViewGPS has agreed to loan us a tracking device, in addition to administering a tracking website that you'll be able to access through runtoconnect.org. We're excited that LiveViewGPS is now a key player in keeping us safe!
- The generous folks who make Rumble Roller products sent us some samples, which you can see in the photo below. I love using the high density foam roller all over (check out those little nubs...they sure do get into those tight muscles!), and the massage ball is excellent for targeting specific areas. We can't thank STI enough! Thank you!!
- I've had the incredibly good fortune to start working with Terrel Hale at Georgetown Sports Massage. For those of you who aren't familiar with sports massage....it's not exactly like a massage you'd get at a resort (read: it hurts sometimes). In addition to massage, Terrel is also certified in Active Release Technique. I have already seen a dramatic improvement in my legs over the past couple of weeks, so I'm looking forward to continuing to work together. In addition to the excellent physical care, Terrel provides great perspective on the mental aspect of the trans-US run. I always come away from our sessions with a lot to think about and reflect on, and for that I am very grateful.
- Last but definitely not least, I had a wonderful Skype chat with Jamie McDonald! Yes, the very man who RAN UNSUPPORTED ACROSS CANADA. An incredible journey that had a wonderful purpose behind it. Jamie was so kind to speak with me about everything from how to connect with people through social media to how he split up his daily runs to how to combat mid and post-adventure blues. A great conversation that I hope to continue. Thanks, Jamie!
